Caution-“Plant Based” is being used to ‘green wash’ products and is OFTEN used to sell vegan meat mixed with animal cheese or animal milk products. Plant Based often means NOT VEGAN (ie Jimmy Deans sandwich, Plantivore items).

Beverages Hawaiian Punch sugar free drink mixes Nestlé Nesquik Chocolate Syrup & some store brands (Smucker’s is NOT vegan!!!) & Nestlé Nesquik Strawberry Syrup
Breads MOST French bread & MOST Sourdough breads. Most hot dog/hamburger buns. Most loaf breads-typically the name will cue if it has honey or buttermilk in it, but check the label first. Kroger brand English Muffins. (Thomas brand is NOT). Canned Crescent rolls (Pillsbury and store brands for Kroger and Wal Mart but NOT Aldi). Dinner rolls-see holiday page. All (?) Pretzel buns. Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix the vegetarian one (veganize by omitting egg & add 1/2 tsp baking powder to mix, 3 Tbsp applesauce, & use vegan milk or water instead of milk, bake according to package).
Can goods 2 of Bush’s Cecina Latina® Products & their Vegetarian Baked Beans are vegan; 1 of the Kroger and 1 of the Aldi brand baked beans happen to be vegan.
Cereal General Mills & most store brand Cherios, Chex Cereal (most flavors), Frosted Flakes, Rice Crispies, General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch. UNFROSTED Mini Wheats/Shreds (the frosted mini wheats have gelatin in the icing) Life cereal. NOTE: Vitamin D3 can be sourced from animal or plant sources and it is not explained on the product label. If a General Mills label has D3, it has some sheep sourced (lanolin) D3-General Mills states this in their FAQ. Post cereal states in their FAQ their D3 is animal based.
Condiments -All? are vegan regardless of brand: catsup, yellow mustard. MOST jar mustards. MOST BBQ sauce (look for these animal ingredients-honey or anchovy or Worcestershire). MANY Oriental/Chinese jar sauces and Indian jar sauces. Soy sauce. ONLY Kroger brand or 365 Whole Foods brand Worcestershire sauce are vegan-all others have FISH. Hidden Valley vegan ranch dressing. Aldi Salad Dressings-“Tuscan label” CA French or the Italian as are most brands Italian and vinegar and oil. McCormick (Imitation) Bacon Bits. French’s Crispy Fried Onions & Aldi’s (verify Aldi’s annually). Follow Your Heart and Hellsmans vegan mayo.
Chips-Potato Chips- Cape Cod Salt and Vinegar potato chips; Lay’s potato chips (Barbecue, Classic, Deli Style Original, Dill Pickle, Lightly Salted, and “All Dressed”(Canadian favorite-like BBQ) varieties) Lay’s Wavy potato chips (Lightly Salted and Original varieties); 2019 Kettle Brand list of vegan options. Avoid “sour cream” and “ranch” as those tend to have dairy.
Desserts. MOST Duncan Hines, Pillsbury & Betty Crocker cake or brownie mixes & icings. Store brands other than Aldi also tend to be accidentally vegan. Look for dairy or lard as the typical animal ingredients.Smuckers Marshmallow Flavored Spoonable Ice Cream Topping.
Granola “Safe & Fair” brand online lets you sort for their vegan options. Bear Naked Granola-about 1/3 of them are vegan including: Fit Triple Berry & Granola Peanut Butter & Granola Maple Cinnamon Grain Free & Granola Dark Chocolate Almond Grain & Granola Cacao and Cashew Butter &Granola Maple Cinnamon Grain Free & Granola Fit V’nilla Almond.
