Citizen Proposed NMB City Drone ordinances language

Drone ordinance discussions:

Folly Beach August 2026 considers requiring permits for beach use. (If NMB required permits, NMB could deny permits for convicted sex offenders and child predators to fly over sunbathers on the beach).

Cities can apparently enforce noise ordinances when violated by a drone.

Site on municipal drone ordinances generally. Ordinances tied to permits, privacy, noise, and public property use are defensible from challenges that the FAA preempted the city’s ability to act.

Unclear if this language was finally adopted in Charleston or is the proposed language. From 2015. Raises important points like no flying within 200′ of a structure (like a swimming pool) or a person (like people on the beach). Operator cannot be intoxicated.
